New Product Registration: Introducing BioCarb-K
Powdery mildew and Botrytis bunch rot are two of the most important diseases of grapes worldwide and causes huge economic losses in Table grape and wine production. These fungal diseases do not only negatively affect yield, but also drive-up production cost and can have undesirable effects on Table grape and wine quality. Similarly, Powdery mildew has the ability to infect all cucurbit crops and if not treated preventatively can lead to severe yield reduction.
We are delighted to share the good news with you, BioCarb-K has been approved as a biorational fungicide (L11339) and is now officially part of our Bio Crop Protection range. BioCarb-K is a potassium bicarbonate contact fungicide with preventive and curative effects against Grey Mould (Botrytis) and Powdery mildew on Table and wine grapes as well as cucurbits.
This 99% food grade potassium bicarbonate product has various modes of action. When applied to the target crop it results in a shift in the pH value on the crop surface, making it unfavourable for pathogen growth. BioCarb-K influences osmotic pressure, resulting in drying out of pathogen hyphae and collapsing of spores. Lastly it interferes with the appressorium cells of the pathogen, preventing colonisation of the crop.

Hierdie swamsiektes beïnvloed nie net opbrengs nie, maar verhoog ook produksiekoste en kan ongewenste effekte op tafeldruif- en wyn gehalte hê. Net so het poeieragtige skimmel die vermoë om alle pampoen-gewasse te besmet en as dit nie voorkomend behandel word nie, kan dit tot ernstige opbrengs verliese lei.
Ons is verheug om die goeie nuus met u te deel! BioCarb-K is goedgekeur as ‘n biorasionele. swamdoder (L11339) en is nou amptelik deel van ons Bio Gewasbeskerming-reeks. BioCarb-K is ‘n kaliumbikarbonaat-kontak swamdoder met voorkomende en genesende effekte teen Botrytis en Poeieragtige skimmel op Tafel- en wyndruiwe asook pampoen-gewasse.
Hierdie 99% gekonsentreerde voedselgraad kaliumbikarbonaat produk het verskillende maniere van werking. Wanneer dit op die teikengewas toegedien word, lei dit tot ‘n verskuiwing in die pH vlak op die gewasoppervlak, wat dit ongunstig maak vir patogeengroei. BioCarb-K beïnvloed osmotiese druk, wat lei tot uitdroging en ineenstorting van patogeenhifes en spore. Laastens meng dit in met die appressorium van die patogeen, wat infeksie en kolonisasie van die gewas voorkom.
